Change the Network Profile Type in Azure for Windows 10 & WS2016
--
We’ve deployed Azure W10/W2016 VMs where the Network Profile Type is Public. This is not a default setting so not sure why this happens — but this article shows how to change the Network Profile to Private using the Local Security Policy editor.
1.Open the Local Security Policy editor: Run > secpol.msc
2. Navigate to Security Settings > Network List Manager Policies > Network Name of the Network needing to be changed
3. R-Click > Properties > Network Location > select Private > OK
4. The Network Profile Type should now be Private.
5. Set the desired Advanced Sharing Settings for the Private Network.
